A> In the past, Korean-American men often flew back to Korea to meet the girl of his dreams. He would meet “the one” in Korea, date her for a bit, get married and then return to the US to live. However, many of those Korean women tended to have difficulties settling into their new lives. They experienced significant culture shock or faced obstacles when applying for jobs, among many other things. These things played a large role in the change of trends.
Nowadays, Korean-American men prefer to meet Korean women here in the US and often seek working wives to start a family with. Likewise, Korean-American women also often prefer Korean-American men because of similar educational and cultural backgrounds. Both Korean-American men and women want partners who are open minded and who they can hold a conversation with as equals. Furthermore, an increasing number of Korean American couples marry within their age group.
Those that are looking for a second marriage often don’t have children, and even older people are optimistically searching for a potential partner.
